报告题目一:The Electronic and Optical Propertiesof Conjugated Polymer

Conjugated polymers consist of conjugated carbon-carbondouble bonds in their backbones, allowing the electrons to delocalize overcertain distances and thus leading to semiconducting properties.  Thesematerials have attracted growing interests for large-area, flexible, andcost-effective electronic applications (including light-emitting diodes (LED),field-effect transistors (FET), photovoltaic cells, and sensors) due to theunique combination of electronic properties of semiconductors and mechanicalflexibility of polymers.  Nevertheless,these materials also represent challenges in terms of understanding their electronicproperties because of low-dimensional nature of the molecular structures andstructural disorders in solid states.  Inthis talk, the fundamental electronic and optical properties of the conjugatedpolymer are introduced.  The bandstructure of the conjugated polymer is constructed from the molecular orbitalpoint of view.  The electrical andoptical properties of conjugated polymer is reviewed and interpreted by theband structure. The effects of doping and polymer chain morphology on theoptoelectronic properties are discussed.


报告题目二:ConjugatedPolymer Nanostructures

The molecular packing and supramolecular assembly ofconjugated polymers play critical roles on their optical and electronicproperties in the solid states.  Theinteractions along the macromolecular backbone and between conjugated chains inmicrocrystalline domains can be different, which results in anisotropy in theoptical absorption and emission as well as in the charge transport.  Extensiveresearch endeavors have been devoted to understanding the effects of molecularstructures, processing parameters including solvents, deposition methods, andannealing, as well as interactions between polymeric semiconductors andsubstrates on the morphological structures and crystallinity of thematerials in the solid states and how to correlate these effects to the changeof optical and/or electronic properties. Conjugated polymer nanostructures not only provide model systems forunderstanding the fundamental structure-property relationship in conjugatedpolymers, but also lead to unique optoelectronic properties due to thenanoscale confinement.  This talk willoverview the different methods to prepare and fabricate nanostructures ofconjugated polymers.  Further, theproperties and applications of conjugated polymer nanostructures will bebriefly discussed.


报告人简介:

               朱正涛博士现任职于美国南达科他矿业理工学院(South Dakota School of Mines and Technology)。朱博士分别于1992年和1995年取得复旦大学高分子材料的学士和硕士学位,于2002年在美国纽约州立大学(the State University of New York at Binghamton)取得材料化学博士学位,之后在康奈尔大学(CornellUniversity, 2002-2004)和伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校(University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2004-2006)从事博士后研究。朱博士于2006年开始在南达科他矿业理工学院任助理教授,并于2012年进升具有终身教职资质的副教授(Tenured AssociateProfessor). 主要的研究方向是纳米材料和器件在能源的转换和储存、柔性电子器件和化学传感器等方面的应用,共发表论文50余篇,相关研究获得美国自然科学基金,美国航天局,美国化学会等机构的资金支持。
