Abstract
Theemergence of efficient photoredox catalysts using transition metals, such as iridiumand ruthenium, have recently emerged as efficient catalysts to perform organicreactions under visible light. Such catalysts have been utilized to performcomplex organic reaction. In this presentation, we expend their uses for thesynthesis of complex macromolecules and the modification of macromoleculesunder visible light. According to the nature of photoredox catalysts, differentpolymerizations can be achieved using different wavelengths. We demonstratedthat a large range of photoredox catalysts can activate a photoinduced electrontransfer (PET) process, which initiates a reversible addition fragmentationchain transfer polymerization (RAFT) under blue LED and red LED lights (λmax =435 and 625 nm). By selecting the photoredox catalysts, we were able to controlthe tacticity of the polymer.
