报告摘要:

In this talk three major topics will be presented:

Metal-quinolone complexes,  

Metal complexes of nucleobase derivatives,

Ruthenium complexes with diketonates.

On the one hand interactions of metal ions with biologically active compounds might be disturbing but on the other hand these interactions are important for activity and can also result in synergistic activity. Shortly, they show two faces which is the principle that we can observe in life frequently.

Quinolones are synthetic antibacterial agents and magnesium ions are crucial for their activity. We have isolated a range of quinolone-metal complexes and charactherized them by various physico-chemical methods. Their biological activity was also tested.

Acyclovir is a guanine derivative with antiviral properties. We have prepared several metal complexes in which acyclovir coordinates to metal through N(7) atom but other types of interaction were also found.

Finally, the ruthenium complexes with substituted diketonates will be presented. We have studied their catalytic properties but also their anticancer activity. Structure-related mode-of-action differences were studied and established.
