报告摘要:

Polymer electrolyte membranes (PEMs) with high ionic conductivity are important for energy-related applications, such as solid state batteries and fuel cells.  In this talk, I will discuss our two new approaches of guiding ion transport in PEMs. The first one is to use holographic photopolymerization to fabricate long-range, defect-free, ordered PEMs with tunable ion conducting pathways.  We introduce the name holographic PEM (hPEM) for these unique membranes.  By incorporating polymer electrolytes into the carefully selected HP system, electrolyte layers/ion channels with length scales of a few tens of nanometers to micrometers can be formed.  The second approach involves re-examining the effect of crystalline lamellae on PEM ion conductivity. By controlling the polymer crystal orientation, we discovered that crystal lamellae can guide ion transport. We believe this finding can lead to new design strategies for manufacturing next generation PEMs.

Christopher Y. Li教授主要从事高分子物理和材料方面的研究,目前为美国Drexel University终身教授,美国物理学会会士(American Physical Society Fellow)。1991-1995,中国科技大学,本科;1995-1999,美国阿克伦大学(The University of Akron)高分子科学与工程系,博士;2000-2001,阿克伦大学高分子科学与工程系博士后研究员;2002-2007Drexel University材料科学与工程系助理教授(Assistant Professor);2007-2011Drexel University材料科学与工程系副教授(Associate Professor);2011-迄今,Drexel University材料科学与工程系教授。在顶级国际期刊Nat. Mater., Nat. Nanotechnol., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Phys. Rev. Lett., Macromolecules等杂志发表学术论文90多篇,参与撰写专著9本,文章被引用次数超过3000次,H因子28。培养博士毕业生8人,硕士毕业生12人。获各种奖励19项。为NatureNature Materials等杂志审稿人,受邀举办学术讲座80余次。其工作被NSF, American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society, Physical Review Focus等杂志或媒体报道。于2003年获得美国的NSF-CAREER Award2006年获得中国的海外杰青,2011年获得NSF Creativity Award2012年当选为美国物理学会会士。
