Polly L Arnold教授简介
Polly Arnold holds the Crum Brown Chair ofChemistry at the University of Edinburgh. She took her degrees atOxfordandSussex, and was a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow at MIT before returning to theUKto alectureship in 1999. Her research is focused on exploratory syntheticchemistry, specifically the design and synthesis of metal compounds that canactivate small, traditionally unreactive molecules such as carbon oxides andhydrocarbons, with the ultimate goal of developing these into innovativecatalytic transformations. By working with some of the heaviest and mostreactive metals, including uranium, new fundamental knowledge is gained that canhelp with understanding the behavior of nuclear wastes. www.homepages.ed.ac.uk/parnold.
Polly has received a variety of awards and prizes includingthe Seaborg Lectureship 2015 (University of California Berkeley,USA) and the Corday Morgan 2012 prize from the Royal Society ofChemistry. She is a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at theInstituteofAdvanced Studyat the TechnicalUniversity of Munich (Germany),and a Senior Visiting Fellow atFudanUniversity(China). Supported by the RoyalSociety's 2012 Rosalind Franklin award, Polly also made 'A Chemical Imbalance',a film and book that celebrates women in science, and explores the issues thatcontribute to their continuing under-representation. www.chemicalimbalance.co.uk
