Dr.Erli Lu graduated from the Organometallic Division of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a PhD in early 2012. In the summer of the same year he moved to University of Nottingham, UK, working in the group of Prof. Steve Liddle on actinide chemistry supported by Marie Curie Fellowship. In 2015 he moved with the Liddle group from Nottingham to Manchester and is currently working in the Centre of Radiochemistry Research, University of Manchester.

报告摘要:

Metal-ligand multiple bonding species represents an important family of organometallic and inorganic compounds, while research endeavours delivered in the field have leaded to both fundamental scientific discoveries (e.g. new bonding model) and practical applications (e.g. novel catalytic processes). The metal carbene species, featuring M=C double bond, were well-documented all cross the metal part of periodic table but not for f-elements (lanthanide and actinide). By employing a dianionic pincer ligand, we synthesised a series of f-element carbene compounds with versatile structural and reactivity profile. Moreover, using the compounds as platform, unprecedentedly, we were able to convincingly address two very fundamental questions in f-element chemistry: the nature of f-element-ligand interaction, and if the thermodynamic structural influences are applicable for f-element chemistry.
