Abstract:  Self-cleaning coatings have received a huge attention because of their extensive applications from window glass cleaning, solar panel cleaning to textiles. This report simply reviews two main categories of self-cleaning coating: superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic coatings.  Their working mechanism, fabrication techniques and applications are also introduced. Some of the self-coating technologies developed in the University of Toronto will be presented.
