Organic cocrystals based on noncovalent intermolecular interactions (week interactions) have aroused enormous interest due to their unpredicted and versatile chemicophysical properties and charming applications (Figure 1). In this presentation, I will highlight recent emerging researches of organic cocrystals on reducing aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) effect, tuning light emission, ferroelectricity, self-healing behavior, switching transport characteristic, and the formation of co-crystals through chemical reaction of organic particles in water. We also summarize great progresses made in this field including revealing the structure-property relationships and developing unusual exciting properties

Biography

Dr. Qichun Zhang is an associate professor at School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He received his B.S. (1992) in Analytical Chemistry at Nanjing University, MS (1998) in physical organic chemistry at Beijing Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, MS (2003) in organic chemistry at University of California, Los Angeles (USA), and completed his Ph.D. (2007) in Chemistry at University of California. After his postdoctor (2007-2008) at Northwestern University, he joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as an Assistant Professor. In 2014, he has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure.

His research interests include rich-carbon conjugated materials and their applications (novel organic conjugated materials for optoelectronic devices, novel electrode materials as well as new design for Microbial Fuel cell). Currently, he is an associate editor of J. Solid State Chem. He also is the Advisory board member of Journal of Materials Chemistry C, International Advisory Board member of Chemistry – An Asian Journal, the Advisory board member of Materials Chemistry Frontiers, and the Advisory board member of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers. Also, he is Guest Editor of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers (2016-2017), Guest Editor of Journal of Materials Chemistry C (2017-2018), and Guest Editor of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers (2017-2018). He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2018, he has been recognized as one of highly-cited researchers (top 1%) in cross-field in Clarivate Analytics. He has published 317 papers (H-index: 65 and Total citation>14000).
